There is an overwhelming theme in both the voting record and current message of Dr. Paul and that is one of individual freedom. It is one that is vastly popular with the majority of Americans who find themselves leaning towards a libertarian point of view, even without noticing.

There are a few notable exceptions at both extremes who can't stomach the idea of freedom. The powermongers on both the left and the right feel that we are not capable of making decisions and that they need to foist their morality upon us. They both support a cradle to grave mentality and only differ on their ideas of exactly how your life should be administered.

The left  wants to take your money and give it to welfare recipients and art museums, the right wants to take your money and give it to airlines and other corporate bailouts. They both want to send freebies to other countries but we just want to keep our money in our pockets and spend it as we see fit. The left wants socialized medicine and the right wants national id cards but we just our privacy left intact. The left violates your property rights under the guise of environmentalism, the right under the guise of eminent domain. The right wants to outlaw abortion and the left wants to finance it. Why is this a federal issue? The left want to throw you in prison for owning a gun and the right wants to throw you in prison for owning a bong. Both sides want to throw me in prison for refusing to pay for their collective tyrrany.

If there were no federal firearms laws, would you just run out tomorrow and start slaughtering people? If there were no federal drug laws, would you run out tomorrow and od on heroin? If there were no federal welfare programs, would you just sit around and watch your neighbor starve to death? Of course not and neither would anyone else. So what makes them think that society would just collapse without their intervention? Well there might be a few deluded souls who actually think they're helping but most of them know that it's all about power and control which are consolidated in money.

Liberty is all about the money too. You keeping yours. Do you think that maybe we shouldn't spend billions per year investigating, arresting, prosecuting and incarcerating people for growing a plant in their back yard? Did you know that the US now has the largest percentage of it's population in prison and that the majority of those are nonviolent offenders? Can you say police state?

Do you think that maybe we shouldn't spend billions per year protecting the border between Iraq and Syria? Did you know that the US now has troops in over 130 countries? Can you say empire? Do you think that maybe we shouldn't spend billions per year on corporate bailouts? Can you say free market? Do you think that maybe we shouldn't spend billions per year on foreign aid? Do you think that our country would be better off if these billions upon billions upon billions were kept by communities and spent at the local level instead of sending them to DC to get redistributed?

If so, stack up the answers of the other candidates and you'll quickly see that Ron Paul is the man.
